The chairperson of the SADC parliamentary forum’s standing committee on democratisation, governance and human rights Wavel Ramkalawan from Seychelles, moved for the adoption.

In a matter of a few months the ruling African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa will test its political support through national elections.

The African National Congress (ANC) government’s new Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni, has long been celebrated in the financial markets for a long-standing commitment to neoliberalism.

The Corporation, which was a revolutionary European invention contemporaneous with the beginnings of European colonialism, and which helped give Europe its competitive edge – has continued to thrive long after the collapse of European imperialism.

This analogy came to my mind as I listened to the delegates from mining-affected communities relaying their struggles during the recent pro-poor land reform conference held in Cape Town on 9-11 September.  The conference was organised and hosted by the Alliance for Rural Democracy (ARD)

Anti-blackness is not just about hating black people; it is informed by one’s social behaviour towards black people, distancing oneself from blackness and utter denial of black people’s right to exist as black people and not as products of a Eurocentric society.
