Friday 5th October 2001

The National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS is a non-governmental organization (NGO) of people living with HIV or AIDS. Its major purpose is to mobilise people living with HIV/AIDS, supporting PLWHA programs, represent, at all levels, their concerns and issues and running educational and leadership development workshops, seminars and campaigns.

Our organisation is not funded yet for the current financial year 31
March 2001 to 31 March 2002. As a result, we had to adjourn all our
programmes until there is a positive development in resources
allocations and solicitations. Our sole and major funder, the National
Department and Provincial Departments of Health cannot meet all our
funding requirements as they have a consignment of structures to fund.
Exploring other funding avenues forms part of the work that we have to
perform as the structure that seeks to be a representative organization
coordinating and communicating the needs, interests and resources of all
People living with HIV and AIDS.

As a fundraising drive, NAPWA plans to host a Fundraising Banquet on
Friday 5th October 2001. We envisage having forty (40) tables at
R 3000-00 per table or R 300-00 per head, which will provide suitable
turnover to see some of our programmes through during this financial
year. We have extended invitations to the Deputy President and
chairperson of SANAC Mr. Jacob Zuma and the National Minister of Health
Dr. Manto Shabalala Msimang.

This letter therefore serves to invite all structures, business and
government and individuals to attend our Fundraising Banquet, and
purchase a table or a seat.

The Venue for the event: Alfa Dudfield Hall, in Lichtenburg

Date: Friday 5th October 2001
Time: 19H00
Dress Code: Purely African
Donation: R 3000-00 per table OR R 300-00 per head.

We envisage this event to be an exciting one that will be run by PLWHA's
and proving beyond doubt that there is life after diagnosis.

PLWHA's will be the one's predominantly offering entertainment items
including programme directors.

Part of our plan is that during this fundraiser, attendees will also be
requested to pledge monetary support to the structure that aims at
mobilising resources of all People living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA's),
the affected and infected, through advocacy, education information and
referral.

All people wishing to contribute and attend the Fundraising Banquet
should make payments to NAPWA prior to date of the banquet. This
therefore means that payments should be made to NAPWA North West on or
before 4th October 2001. A copy of the deposit receipt will have to be
faxed to NAPWA office, where a numbered invitation and programme of the
event will be sent to the payee. Deposits should be made to the account
provided below.
