On August 8, 2001, Voice of America Television started a new program Special Report Africa on VOA/WORLDNET affiliate stations. The new program will be aired at 1800 GMT immediately before Straight Talk Africa. The first show on August 8, 2001, “The Stigma of AIDS” has Aids activist Reinard Brown and author Reverend Dr. Mankekolo Mahlangu-Ngcobo as studio guests. For the first few months, there will be only one original show produced each month. The Wednesdays of August will see a re-broadcast of “The Stigma of AIDS”.
