The Environmental Justice Networking Forum (EJNF) is a national
Alliance of 300 non-government organisations, community based
organisation and trade unions. Our desire is to transform environmental
governance in South Africa so that it becomes participatory, people
centred, socially just and ecologically sustainable.
Applications are invited for the following positions:
1. MEDIA COORDINATOR ( BASED IN GAUTENG)
Directed by the EJNF National Director working in close collaboration
with EJNF National Projects Coordinator and seven Provincial
Coordinators this person will be based in Gauteng. This person will be
based in Gauteng and have a Satellite office in Pietermaritzburg
(National Office).
Duties
? To investigate selected cases in response to environmental complaints
and to write articles about such cases for publication in the EJNF
in-house magazine, the mainstream press and alternative press
? To assist EJNF staff with access to media services eg press
releases and conducting research on particular issues identified by
Provincial Environmental Action Team.
? Responsible for the production of promotional material.
? Produce and edit all EJNF publications in collaboration with the
Editorial Committee.
? To contribute towards the formulation of media campaign strategies.
? To assist media outside EJNF who are producing radio and
television documentaries/ programmes related to activities of the EJNF
network.
? Co-ordinate media training by liasing with Provincial Co-ordinators and
training organisations
? Responsible for the update of EJNF website on a regular basis.
Requirements:
She/he will have at list 3-5 years experience in media work. Knowledge
of the NGO sector will be an added advantage. She should have
experience in working with all forms of media. She/he must be fluent in
English and knowledge of another official African language will be an
added advantage. She/he must be flexible, adaptable, work effectively,
be results driven and goal orientated and able to work independently.
She/he should be in possession of a valid drivers licence and shall have
his/her own transport. She/he will be willing to travel through out South
African and be willing to work under pressure. Interested people should

2. WORLD SUMMIT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (WSSD)
CO-ORDINATOR (GAUTENG)
(18 MONTHS CONTRACT)
Duties
? Developing training programmes for preparing POs for WSSD.
? Developing terms of reference for outsourced services in relation to
WSSD.
? Facilitate the selection of POs to attend WSSD.
? Assisting POs with accreditation to attend WSSD.
? Ensure the dissemination of information on WSSD to POs.
? Ensure the training of Pos on presentation skills in preparation for the
NGO forum.
? Ensure that POs are trained on lobbying.
? Implement the Project document for the WSSD with the support
of the National Project Coordinator and Provincial Coordinator.
Requirements:
A post-graduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant
area and at least three years experience working in the NGO sector.
Experience in the environmental sector will be an added advantage.
She/he must have a working knowledge of the South African and
Southern African development sector. Some experience in co-
ordinating complex projects is essential. Proven management,
coordination, report writing, facilitation and excellent report writing skills
are required. She/he must be fluent in English and at least one African
language. She/he must be in possession of a valid driver's licence and
shall have her/his own transport. She must be willing to travel
throughout South Africa.
3. WSSD ADMINISTRATOR/SECRETARY (GAUTENG) (18 MONTHS
CONTRACT)
Duties
? Responsible for all secretarial services to WSSD Co-ordinator and
National Campaigns Co-ordinator
? Set up all administration systems in liaison with the Financial
Manager for WSSD office
? Arrange all meetings and travel regarding programme activities
? Minute taking and distribution of documents to all stakeholders
? Reception duties
Requirements: This person must be proficient in office software such as
Microsoft Word and Excel, database programmes. She/he must be
prepared to work flexible hours and capable to work under pressure and
without supervision. She/he must have a tertiary qualification and at
list three to five years experience in a similar position.
Salary for all positions above are negotiable depending on experience

4. National Director (National Office) Permanent Position
Directed by the NEC this person will be based initially in
Pietermaritzburg but could be relocated to Gauteng. This person will be
working in collaboration with Management Team and National Executive
Committee.
Duties:
? Fundraising
? Institute and maintain management systems for finances,
administration and fundraising.
? Direct all activities of EJNF
? Maintain effective internal EJNF communication and external
communication with PEATs, POs, donors, and all stakeholders in
the field of environmental development.
? Provide strong mentorship to staff at National Office and to eight
provincial offices, and delegate responsibilities accordingly.
? Direct continuous policy formulation for staff, NEC and all structures
of EJNF.
? Appoint EJNF staff, Consultants, Auditors and Trust Lawyers on
behalf of NEC
? Ensure that EJNF has sustainable funding for implementation for
current and future activities.
Requirements:
This person should have at list 5-10 years management experience in a
large organisation preferable in the public sector or NGO environment
and should have managed an organisation of more than 30 people.
Capacity to lead the organisation at a strategic level is essential. Proven
managerial, coordination, facilitation, excellent report writing,
competent word processing, and fundraising skills are essential. She/he
must be self reliant, show initiatives, be pro-active and be assertive.
Interest in Environmental justice and sustainable development will be an
added advantage. She/he must be prepared to travel nationally and
internationally. She/he must be in possession of a valid drivers licence.
She/he must be highly competent in spoken and written English and be
conversant in at least one of the twelve official languages.
