Projects Co-ordinator Cape Town

(Contract appointment: 12 months)

The Association of Public Accounts Committees is a not-for-profit voluntary association with the
following objectives:

To improve the quality and the performance of the Public Accounts Committees members in South Africa and to harmonise practices in the SADC region, through training and facilitating the
exchange of information and opinions relating to work of Public Accounts Committees. To improve the capacity of individual members of the Public Accounts Committees to function more effectively.

To liaise with the Auditor-General's Office so as to improve the effectiveness of the Provincial Auditors and the Public Accounts Committees.

To communicate with individuals and organisations knowledgeable about matters of concern to public accountability.

The Association of Public Accounts Committees (APAC) requires the services of a Projects co-ordinator to commence as soon as possible with the following competencies:

* A senior certificate plus a minimum of 4 years project management experience in the Development sector.
* A tertiary qualification in development management or project management will be highly recommended.
* Effective project management skills essential to co-ordinate and facilitate the delivery of 6 strategic objectives.
* Ability to plan through training initiatives, conference co-ordination and liaison.
* Ability to design and implement a monitoring and evaluation system.
* Ability to plan, implement and control a budget.
* An understanding of basic accounting principles (formal qualification not essential).
* Understanding the donor environment and an ability to write articulate reports to prospective donors.
* Strong interpersonal communication skills as incumbent will have to deal with people at all levels.
* Ability to work with short notices and within stipulated deadlines.

The candidate should posses a high level of computer literacy and should have an excellent command of the English language both written and verbal. Use of own initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision in a highly pressurised environment is essential.
