Solani & Sutton Communications wishes to appoint a Programme Assistant to work with one of its main customers, Talent Consortium, on the launch of the Global Conservation Trust during the forthcoming World Summit for Sustainable Development (WSSD).

The Global Conservation Trust will be an endowment fund for plant genetic resources. It aims to raise at least US$260 million over three years from corporations, governments and individuals in order to safeguard genetic resources collections for the future. Its launch during the WSSD is therefore a key opportunity.

The Programme Assistant will have the following responsibilities:

- help to research the opportunities to publicise the launch of the Global Conservation Trust during the WSSD and related events;

- liaise with the local organisers of the WSSD, Global Forum and side events to plan and prepare the public awareness activities agreed with the Global Conservation Trust;

- help to organise the production of exhibition and printed materials;

- assist with preparations for the media launch of the Global Conservation Trust;

- lend support to the launch during the WSSD, Global Forum and side events; and

- in general, ensure that all logistical arrangements are in place.

The Programme Assistant will also lend a hand with the general office workload.

A seven-month contract is offered, from March-September 2002, starting as soon as feasible. The Programme Assistant will work normal office hours for most of this period. During the WSSD itself, from 26 August-4 September, extra hours may be needed. These will be compensated for with time off before the end of the contract.

Salary and benefits are negotiable in the light of experience.

To apply, please e-mail or fax a letter of application to say why you think you are qualified for the work, enclosing a CV and the names and daytime phone numbers of at least two and preferably three referees.
