A Three Day Workshop

Ashoka's Citizen Base Initiative is commencing with a series of resource mobilisation workshops, the first of which will take place in Durban. This three-day workshop is broken into two parts. Part one is a two-day theoretical input session and part two is a one-day simulation game where participants apply lessons learned in the theory sessions.

Part One

In the theoretical input session NPOs learn the importance of making the shift from pure fundraising to a more integrated sustainable local resource mobilisation strategy. This includes learning how to mobilise alternative resources such as people, equipment, space, pro bono services and so on. However, participants are also advised on how to draft a successful funding proposal.

Part Two

Part two comprises a simulation game that is a unique feature of the workshop. Real life donors from different sectors are invited to the workshop to act as resource people in the simulation game and participants are expected to develop and present mock proposals to these donors in a game that draws out many lessons for all involved.

Pre-Workshop Preparation

The workshop requires some preparation beforehand. Participants must complete an organisational assessment questionnaire, which is a vital step in embarking on any resource mobilisation strategy that best matches the goals of your organisation. The questionnaire will be forwarded to you upon registration and responses will be reviewed at the workshop. You are also encouraged to bring one copy of your organisation's marketing materials to the workshop.

Workshop Fees

The workshop fee is R1, 200 per person and this includes workshop documentation, refreshments, lunch and parking. This fee does not include overnight accommodation. We can only accommodate 20 participants. Kindly register early to avoid disappointment.
