The Curriculum Development Project Trust (CDP), based in Gauteng, is a dynamic NGO dedicated to the training of educators and learners in Arts and Culture in the formal and non-formal sectors. It requires an Arts and Culture Senior Phase materials developer with experience and expertise in Visual Arts education and its cultural contexts.
ARTS AND CULTURE SENIOR PHASE MATERIALS DEVELOPER
The Curriculum Development Project Trust (CDP), based in Gauteng, is a dynamic NGO dedicated to the training of educators and learners in Arts and Culture in the formal and non-formal sectors.
The CDP requires an Arts and Culture Senior Phase materials developer with experience and expertise in Visual Arts education and its cultural contexts,
JOB DESCRIPTION
* Review of the CDP Senior Phase Teacher Training materials developed in 2001 in line with the new Learning Area Statements from the National Review Committee,
* Critical Assessment of the levels and quality of CDP materials produced to date.
* Shift the emphasis from teacher training materials to a Senior Phase teacher resource for direct use in the classroom.
* Assess input from other Arts and Culture
* Implement trialing sessions of the above materials with teachers and learners
* Write up the materials
* Work with language and content editors
* Work with a layout specialist
* Initiate the processes needed for the development of Learner Support Materials.
COMPETENCIES
* Proven expertise in materials development
* Familiar with OBE principles and current Arts and Culture Curriculum policy
* Have a progressive, creative approach to teaching and learning methodologies in Arts and Culture
* Ability to source expertise in the other Arts disciplines.
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to deliver on deadlines
* Ability to liase with publishers and negotiate the terms of reference for the production and wider distribution of the CDP Arts and Culture Teacher Resources would be an advantage.
Budget for the task includes buying in additional expertise.
This is a part-time position equivalent to three working days a week.
