Performance improvement advisor sought to be responsible for building the capacity of primary family planning and reproductive health providers in the application of USAID’s Performance Improvement Approach to improve their performance in the delivery of services.

Intrah, a development assistance organization within the University of
North
Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA is one of the agencies
that has just won a competitive procurement with USAID/Nigeria to
implement the 30-month VISION reproductive health project in 5 states in
Nigeria. Intrah is currently looking to fill a position for Performanc
Improvement (PI) Specialist, based in Lagos.

The performance improvement advisor will be responsible for building the
capacity of primary family planning and reproductive health (FP/RF)
providers in the application of USAID’s Performance Improvement Approach
(PIA) to improve their performance in the delivery of RH/FP services.
The PI advisor will also increase the capacity of project staff, other
implementing partners and national stakeholders to utilize the PI
approach.

Specific Functions:
- Participate in strategic planning to ensure that the performance
improvement approach is reflected in all overall plans.
- Provide technical assistance in PI for stakeholder groups that will be
allied at various levels including national, state, NGOs private sector
providers and community.
- Plan and facilitate PI short courses for federal level, leading NGO
sector leaders and national midwifery and nursing associations.
- Based on Performance Needs Assessments, conduct PI orientation
workshops at state and LGA levels, including gap and root cause analysis
with key stakeholders. Help stakeholders identify interventions and
develop a monitoring and evaluation plan.
- Provide technical assistance at state and LGA levels for guiding
implementation of PI plans.
- Work with clinic and project staff to develop simple monitoring tools
to help clinics assess their own performance.
- Coordinate STTA visits from Intrah staff and consultants.

Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in public health, instructional design,
organization development, performance technology, human resources
development or another field relevant to the position functions;
- Familiarity with health care issues in reproductive health and family
planning;
- Experience in working with health care clients in a variety of
settings preferred;
- Experience using performance improvement or other quality improvement
approaches and methodologies;
- Demonstrated skill and ability to work in team-based environments as a
team member or a team leader;
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
