The Institute of Law and Policy (ILP) has been established primarily as a
training institution for the purpose of continuing education. Its objective
is to assist in the building of intellectual and functional capacity of
professionals, practitioners, activists, and other functionaries whose work
includes a legal component.

All courses offered by the Institute are designed to suit the requirements
of working people who wish to continue education. The Institute offers four
types of courses. These are Specialised, Tailor-made, Professional, and
General Courses.
Specialised Courses:These courses are specially structured to impart legal
knowledge to non-legal professionals and practitioners. The course content
is carefully planned to make it relevant to the professions and work of
target groups. The target groups of Specialised Courses are, among others,
health professionals, consultants in the building industry, trade unionists,
managers and executives, co-operators, media professionals and leaders of
civil society organisations as well as officers in the central and local
government.
It is the policy of the Institute to provide high quality tuition by
dedicated and conscientious faculty using advanced pedagogical methods.

The faculty is drawn from institutions of higher education and experience
practitioners.
The Institute prides itself in providing a wide range of reading material
(including unreported case law and unpublished case studies) with permanent
value as reference material

Tailor-made Courses (Course Samples)
The Institute designs and conducts training for the staff of government,
non-governmental and business organisations, and educational institutions.
Tailor-made courses are undertaken on instruction from clients to meet their
special requirements.

Professional Courses (Course Samples) Professional courses are designed for
young and mid-career legal practitioners who want to update their knowledge
and enhance their skills in specific areas of legal practice. These courses
are also suitable for judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative officers
in public service and executive agencies.

General Courses (Course Samples)
These courses are open to any interested person who wants to advance his or
her understanding of the legal environment in our society. The courses are
conducted in the form of part-time evening or weekend classes and seminars
in areas of current general interest.
