Our client, the Natural Resources College (NRC) in Lilongwe, Malawi seeks
to engage the services of dynamic, visionary and pragmatic individuals to
the lead the on-going strategic transformation of the College into a
self-sustaining Centre of Excellence and inspiration to support the
implementation of agricultural, natural resources and environmental
development strategy of Malawi and the SADC region. The core mission of the
NRC is to provide demand driven training programmes in natural resources
and environmental management. In August 2001, the College was registered as
a Trust thus legally making it a semi-autonomous institution under the
overall supervision of the Board of Trustees.
A very exciting opportunity now exists for qualified individuals to take up
Executive Management positions in the College. Their key responsibility
will be to continue the transformation of the College into an efficient,
effective and customer focused training institution.
In pursuit of its mandate, the key responsibilities of the College are as
follows:
- Designing and delivery of demand-driven, development oriented and
entrepreneurial courses (short and long term) aimed at upgrading skills
knowledge, hands-on experience as well as attitudes of professionals.
- Conducting research and consultancies to provide applied solutions
to client problems.
- Attaining financial sustainability.
Our Executive Search is for the following position:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the incumbent is expected to
provide strategic leadership, vision, guidance and direction in planning
and execution of sustainable natural resources management and training
programmes making linkages with stakeholders in Government, NGOs leading
donor agencies as well as training institutions in Malawi and the SADC
region.
The ideal candidate should be a national of any of the SADC member states
and must have the following attributes:
1 Post-graduate degree in a field relevant to natural resources
management
2 Minimum of seven years post qualification professional experience,
preferably at management level in a training institution.
3 Practical experience in organizational transformation and
curriculum development.
4 Demonstrated ability to provide team leadership and human resources
management skills.
5 Ability to write project proposals, develop and implement business
plans
6 Proven facilitation skills.
7 Business management and marketing background with sound financial
management skills.
8 Excellent communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
9 Computer literacy with ability to use spreadsheets and word
processing.
A competitive remuneration package which includes a fully expensed company
car, housing and medical care will be offered to the successful candidate
commensurate with experience and qualifications. The appointment is on a
two-year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance.
