The Organization:
Women for Women International is an international response and development
organization. It provides women survivors of violence with the tools and
resources necessary to move from crisis and transition to stability and

sufficiency. Women for Women International operates educational and
economic
empowerment programs in Bangladesh, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Nigeria and
Rwanda.

Description:
Women for Women International is looking for a candidate -- preferably with
a
graduate degree -- who is looking for an opportunity to use his/her skills
in
the non-profit field to apply together with Women for Women International
for
the New Voices Fellowship Program. The New Voices Fellowship Program is
funded by the Academy for Educational Development (AED). At Women for Women
International, the fellow would be involved in the establishment of a
communications and public affairs office designed to:
- increase the visibility of Women for Women International's work in the
media, academic, political, non-profit and foundation communities;
- increase awareness of the general public on global gender issues including
violence against women, women's rights and international economic
development; and
- multiply the organization's impact by involving members in advocacy
efforts
aimed at altering public policy .
The fellowship will be for one - two years and could lead to permanent
employment in the United States headquarters office.
Responsibilities:
- the establishment of a speaker's bureau;
- strengthening of the organization's electronic communications (including
email and website);
- expanding the organization's print media (including an enlarged newsletter
and the introduction of a journal);
- fostering public & media relations with U.S. constituents.

The Organization:
Jewish Women International (JWI), founded in 1897 as B'nai B'rith Women, is
dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence through education, advocacy and
action - locally, nationally and around the world. For the past decade, JWI
has been a leader in the Jewish community in bringing awareness and action
to
the issue of relationship abuse in the Jewish community through programs,
community activities, publications and philanthropic activities in the U.S.,
Canada, and Israel, and for the past two years in the former Soviet Union.
Description:
The Director of Programs will have overall responsibility for developing and
implementing JWI's national program strategy. The Director will coordinate
the Program Team's work within the larger Program/ Marketing/Development
Team
and will help ensure effective linkages to volunteer and local program work.
Will report to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the development and implementation of JWI's national program
strategy;
- Identify and create partnerships for program development and delivery;
- Develop both internal and external support for programs;
- Develop funding, including writing grant proposals, cultivating major
donors, foundations, and corporations, identifying and applying for
governmental funds;
- Oversee development and implementation of new programs that are consistent
with the mission and vision of the organization;
- Supervise management of existing programs by program staff;
- Manage specific programs not delegated to other program staff;
- Provide external expertise on JWI issues;
- Perform administrative tasks relating to programs, including annual plans,
budgets, and reports;
- Supervise small program staff and, when appropriate, outside consultants.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in related area;
- 7-10 years experience developing and implementing programs for women,
children, families, including expertise in relationship abuse issues, strong
familiarity with Jewish community;
- experience developing funder relationships;
- excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including experience
writing grant proposals and strategic plans;
- ability to travel;
- ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
- ability to supervise staff;
- international experience preferred.

Description:
Interrupt seeks an Executive Director with experience in highly
participatory, team-based organizations who enjoys collaborative work and
decision-making to provide leadership in planning, organizing, evaluating
and
sustaining the overall organization to assure effective operation and
continued organizational health and growth. Accountable to the Board of
Directors, the ED works collaboratively with the staff management team and
the Board and staff as a whole to provide continuity and develop the

Responsibilities:

The Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres is conducting research on
workplace harassment and violence experienced by women in the workplace. It
is currently seeking a candidate within the Toronto/London area to fill a
contract position of 320 hours at a rate of $25 per hour from December 1st

Qualifications:

oppression from a feminist perspective;

Description:
This is a two year contract, renewable. This post will take lead
responsibility for managing and developing a project which will address
women's health issues through an interactive radio magazine programme.
Operating from an office/studio in Hargeisa, Somaliland the project is
funded
for five years and builds on the experience of a two-year pilot project.
Programmes are written and produced by Health Unlimited's national staff and
broadcast to the Somali speaking Horn of Africa.
Main functions of the post:
- To manage project staff and finances, ensuring that the project is
implemented according to the objectives set out in the project design;
- To ensure the project operates within Health Unlimited's policies and
mission;
- To build capacity and transfer skills to the team in general and to a
Trainee Project Manager in particular (Year 2);
- To monitor and report on project progress to Health Unlimited and
government;
- To represent Health Unlimited to government, donors, local organisations,
international and local NGOs
Requirements:
All candidates must have a minimum of 3 years' experience of managing
community-based development projects, experience in development

PSI/Europe wishes to appoint an experienced professional to manage a project
to develop HIV/AIDS Voluntary Counselling and Testing services in Namibia.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization on the
cutting
edge of HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
PSI/Europe is affiliated with Population Services International, the world's
leading network of non-profit social marketing organizations. In 2002,
PSI/Europe expects to begin implementation of a new programme to develop a
franchised network of voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) centres for
the
control of HIV/AIDS in Namibia.
The VCT Project Director will manage the project in close collaboration with
partners. He/she will report to the Executive Director of PSI/Europe and
assume overall responsibility for project results.
Responsibilities:
- Develop effective working relationships with a range of partners and
stakeholders, including MoHSS at national and regional levels, NGOs,
technical agencies and others;
- Manage quantitative and qualitative research to inform and evaluate
project
strategies;
- Lead site selection assessments and establish 5-6 VCT centres in Namibia;
- Develop service protocols and train staff and management of VCT centres;
- Provide technical support to monitor and ensure high quality of services;
- Develop the VCT positioning strategy, marketing plans and communications
campaigns;
- Manage project staff and resources and prepare reports;
- Manage a comprehensive learning process to ensure that lessons are
disseminated.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree plus 7 years professional experience;
- Minimum 3 years experience of franchised or social marketing approaches to
sexual and reproductive health in developing countries, preferably in
Africa;
- Understanding of technical issues in delivery of sexual and reproductive
health services, preferably including VCT;
- Management experience in international development;
- Demonstrated ability to forge effective partnerships with a variety of
stakeholders;
- Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based marketing and communications;
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Employment Conditions:
PSI/Europe offers internationally competitive salary and benefits dependent
on experience. This position will be based in Windhoek, Namibia, is expected
to start in March 2002 and will require frequent travel within Namibia.
