communities. Forefront is an international network of human rights activists

Rights Award.

Forefront protects and supports human rights defenders by helping them
communicate with each other, share best practices, respond to crises, and
learn about opportunities and resources. Forefront works to ensure that
grassroots human rights defenders have a voice in the international
community, and Forefront also campaigns for the release of network members
who have been imprisoned for their non-violent political beliefs.

Forefront seeks a Program Associate to join a small team and contribute to
all aspects of the organization's development. The position is comprised of
30% of coordinating the organization's administrative tasks and 50%
organizing a new initiative, the Human Rights Web Resource Center, and 20%
assisting with other program work as necessary.

Responsibilities of the Program Associate will include:

· Coordinating a new effort with grassroots partners to build a
multi-language Human Rights Web Resource Center that compiles "how to's" of
human rights work from local groups around the world with practical tips and
information on organizational development:
· Assisting with other program activities, including urgent actions,
fundraising assistance and other technical support for our partner groups;
· Assisting with logistics of a week-long "learning community" training
program for leading human rights defenders from all over the world,
including travel arrangements, reporting, materials;
· Handling the organization's administrative tasks, including
correspondence, fund raising research, light bookkeeping and database
management.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
· At least 3 years full time work experience
· Highly organized, with attention to detail
· Fluency in one or more languages in the Forefront network (especially
Spanish, French, or Portuguese)
· Proven project management skills, including organizing, prioritizing and
completing multiple tasks on time
· Strong communication, research and writing skills
· Excellent computer and information management skills, including experience
using databases (Microsoft Access)
· Ability to work as part of a team, but also to function independently and
go beyond defined roles
· Entrepreneurial energy for start-up organization
· Commitment to the mission of Forefront
· Degree in relevant field
· Immediate availability

Preferred qualifications:
· Experience with a start-up organization working as part of a small team
· Regional expertise in a developing country
· Experience with a network or technical assistance provider

Salary Range: low $30's, depending on experience.
