(Kampala, Monday 29th February 2016) Today women leaders from Uganda filed formal requests that the Electoral Commission provide them with Declaration of Results Forms from all polling stations in a subset of Districts where: either a substantial number of valid votes in the Presidential Election

Recently, I observed the presidencial and parliamentary elections on 18 February 2016 in Uganda. This was the first election to be held using the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) system.

Ugandans go to vote in presidential and parliamentary elections on February 18, 2016. This will be the sixth presidential election since Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) acceded to power on January 29, 1986.

President Yoweri Museveni’s disparaging reference to the inaugural presidential debate as nothing more than a speech competition is such an absurdity.

The Republic of Uganda is scheduled to hold its fifth general election on February 18, 2016.

The Ugandan government should urgently suspend the crime preventer program ahead of the February 2016 national elections, said Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Human Rights Network Uganda (HURINET-U), Chapter Four Uganda, and Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI) today.
