Half a century after independence, Algerians are still waiting for the history of that period which would enable them to understand where they come from, who they are and figure out where they are headed on the basis of objective facts and signposts.

‘Algeria is “sitting on a volcano”. We will continue to sift for opportunities to support reform, and should be prepared to offer our frank but private opinion of Algeria’s progress along the way’.

He’s gone! Pharaoh finally understood he was the problem. Better yet, Hosni Mubarak finally managed to find a safe exit through which he, his family and, most importantly, his finances could make a run for it!
