Protests against Olympic sponsors have been intensifying with protests against Dow and BP taking place on the same day.

Eriakimi Kaseegu, the Kasenyi Local Council One Chairman, revealed that community land – including the plot where Tullow Oil’s Kasemene 3 well is located – was fraudulently sold by “outsiders” and that the community’s efforts to investigate the sale were met with violence and arbitrary arrests.

In December last year a group of women in Dumase, a community near Bogoso in the Western Regionof Ghana, blocked the road leading to the site of the mining company operating in the area, Golden Star Resources, to protest the pollution of their only source of water.
