If anything, two of the BRICS powers – China and India – are investing billions of dollars in coal-fired thermal-power generation in Africa while winning global applause for increasing their solar and wind power at home.

On its website, Geiger International, describes itself as “a leading supplier of security products, vehicular equipment, textile and housing products” adding that it “has successfully been manufacturing, under license, military goods in its own factories in mainland China for over two decades”.

Zimbabwe’s latest economic blueprint, known shorthand as Zim Asset, identifies BRICS as being central to the country's economic revival.
