Tribute to Samir Amin

He was a prodigious researcher and publisher issuing over 40 books, hundreds of articles and papers dealing with the relationship between the colonial, semi-colonial and neo-colonial territories and the imperialist states. 

The year 1982 began with a revolutionary upheaval in Ghana: a group of young and radical military officers—some retired, others still in service—appeared to have seized power!

Every problem provides an opportunity for a progressive to work on eradicating the problem in the drive to move society forward for the better. In this case, the problem is the vacuum created by the passing away of Professor Samir Amin.

He walked in the corridors of our brand-new National Research Institute (Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisa—INEP) in Bissau, as if he knew the place for a long time.
