SA: NATIONAL ACCOUNTANT

COSATU is looking to appoint a National Accountant to head its Accounts Unit. It will be the incumbent's responsibility to coordinate the activities of structure; act as an internal auditor for COSATU and, amongst other things, produce and present monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements.

1. NATIONAL ACCOUNTANT : Based at COSATU Head Office in
Johannesburg.

Duties and responsibilities include: To head the Accounts Unit and
coordinate the activities of structure; act as an internal auditor for
COSATU; produce and presents monthly, quarterly and yearly financial
statements; Cost and prepare budgets and implement a system of internal
control to safeguard the assets of the federation.

Requirements: A qualified accountant with an experience of leading an
Accounts Unit of a credible institution or organization.

2. PUBLICITY OFFICER: based at the COSATU Head Office in
Johannesburg.

Duties and responsibilities: Act as the spokesperson of COSATU;
Coordinate and manage the federation's media strategy; Oversee other
staff members responsible for the production of the Shopsteward
Magazine.

Requirements: Good political skills with background of working in the
mass democratic movement; Good communications skills including
writing skills; Post school qualification and proven journalistic skills will
be an advantage; Computer skills; strong coordination and management
skills; Interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure; willingness
to work beyond normal hours; Ability to take initiatives and valid driver's
license.

3. DEPUTY PARLIAMENTARY COORDINATOR: Based at the
COSATU Parliamentary Office in Cape Town.

Duties and responsibilities include : To act as Deputy of the Head of
the office by managing the office and personnel including representing
the federation at various political forums; Processing and prioritizing
legislation and policy documents and finalizing response in consultation
with COSATU leadership; Research and writing of submissions/memos;
To liaise and network with the departments, ministries, parliamentary
committees, other support institutions; NGOs' and affiliates.

Requirements/Skills: Some experience in the areas outlined above;
Good writing ability and analytical skills; Computer skills and sensitivity
including the ability to represent the federation effectively; Interpersonal
skills; Post school qualification would be an advantage, particularly in
Economics, Law and Social Studies.
