Pambazuka News is an online weekly news platform published by Fahamu, a pan-African organization devoted to supporting struggles for social justice. Pambazuka News is a highly regarded platform for reporting, analysis and debate on current affairs relevant to the Pan-African world and the global South.

Each week, Pambazuka News publishes a variety of in-depth and critical articles contributed by scholars, journalists, writers, policymakers, experts in diverse fields, poets, activists and other individuals and groups committed to the vision of a more just world for all.

Pambazuka News is guided by the three core values of its publisher, Fahamu, namely: Pan-Africanism, Feminism and People-centredness.

The Volunteer Copy Editor

• As a Volunteer Copy Editor, you will join a small team of dedicated Editors who produce Pambazuka News each week.
• You will edit, from wherever you are, an article or two per week (depending on your available time) in line with Pambazuka News Editorial Guide.
• It will be essential that you have interest in the affairs of the pan-African world and the global South and that you are committed to social justice.
• You are expected to have a university degree.
• You should have access to a computer and reliable Internet connection.
• You will have the opportunity to learn about the operations of Pambazuka News in order to make effective contributions.
• In your regular interactions with the Editors, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute ideas to improve the content of Pambazuka News and its distribution.
• The Editorial Team will gladly offer you any assistance you may need to perform your tasks as a Volunteer Copy Editor.
• The Editorial Team will at all times be ready to give you a recommendation/reference letter should you need one for your career development.
