Dear friends/colleagues,

Access to Justice is pleased to announce the publication of its biannual Cases on Human Rights (CHR) and I believe many of you have received complimentary copies already. Cases on Human Rights brings together, in a single volume, groundbreaking, distinctive and empowering human rights cases from across the Commonwealth, and this current edition encompasses cases from Nigeria and South Africa. (Future editions will cover cases from more jurisdictions). Our aim in publishing this report is to help lawyers, judges and scholars find creative ways of defending human rights through the courts, and avoid many errors of procedure which can stand in the way.

Cases on Human Rights will expand vistas of legal scholarship and professional expertise in the protection and defence of human rights and will appeal to a broad spectrum of human rights practitioners in the country: it features decided cases on discrimination against women, rights of those living with HIV, rights to housing, rights to unionize, rights to liberty, dignity, fair hearing and procedures of the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules. Added to the report is a rich "anthology" of human rights instruments used in our courts: the African Charter on Human Rights, Cap 4 of the 1999 Constitution and the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules 1979. We would be very pleased if you help us disseminate information about this report to as many people as possible. We especially welcome information on judicial decisions you think wil significantly contribute to the development of human rights law.

This over 600 page hardback cover publication cost N1,350.00 and can be obtained from major law bookstores. For lawyers working with human rights groups or providing humanitarian professional services, they may be entitled to free copies or further price discounts of N1000.00 (one thousand Naira.).
