On 29 August 2014, the Independent magazine ran a cover story about the top guns per region in Uganda. This was a mini survey of 425 top government appointments. The survey was to determine the level of ethnic balance in government institutions in Uganda.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame had hoped that the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, the genocide committed by the Israeli army against Palestinian people, the “Boko Haram” crimes against humanity, the killing of Black people in Ferguson in the United States

On May 21 2014 the Daily Monitor (a local Ugandan daily) carried a photograph of a woman in Karamoja climbing a tree to get wild fruits to feed her family. A local television station, the NTV, had a few weeks before filmed graves of people who had died of starvation in the Karamoja region.

INTRODUCTION

In the public debate in Uganda on the new anti-gay law, as an external viewer of this society, I isolate some principal critiques. The first is linked to the international language of human rights, which emphasises the clear violation of those of a minority in the society.

KAMPALA, Uganda/NEW YORK, 10 March 2014—Since I was appointed the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa in August 2013, I have as my top priority linked human rights and the AIDS response.

As the legalization of hate towards same-gender loving persons gains traction in parts of Africa, it is the task of Pan African progressives and decent humans everywhere to expose this orchestrated destructive cultural war.
