Regional Project Coordinator, Johannesburg
Amnesty International (AI) has embarked on a 2 year project to strengthen criminal justice mechanisms in Africa in order to ensure justice, truth and reparation for victims of crimes under international law in Africa. The project aims to promote domestic and international accountability, strengthen emerging regional criminal accountability mechanisms as well as counter the existing political backlash and efforts to weaken international justice mechanisms, particularly the International Criminal Court (ICC), in Africa.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional Project Coordinator is a two year funded post and will part of the Africa Advocacy team, the core team that leads delivery of the project. Working under direct supervision of Research and Advocacy Director for Africa, the Project Coordinator provides high-level administrative and coordination support to the Africa Advocacy team and assist with administrative, logistical and coordination tasks related to the project and broadly to the Regional Advocacy Programme. Activities involve utilising judgment and initiative to develop and deliver as required a differentiated, good quality, proactive and effective service with a moderate level of complexity within clearly defined parameters and established processes and procedures and require the need to coordinate / integrate activities with multiple internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
ABOUT YOU
As a key member of the Regional Advocacy Team, you will have experience of coordinating projects and understanding of donor-funded project coordination and management methodology. You will also possess excellent coordination skills and capacity to liaise, enable others, create synergy and tune initiatives to one another including experience of remote working with teams based in different locations. Knowledge of financial management systems and procedures as well as experience of preparing and monitoring budgets and ability to identify budget problems and solve them is also essential. You will also have a strong record of establishing and maintaining office systems and coordinating an efficient flow of communications and information, including the creation and maintenance of electronic databases.
