The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) display titled: ‘Soulful Stitching: Patchwork Quilts by Africans (Siddis) in India’ was historic for many reasons. Held between 15 July and 25 September, 2011, it was billed as the first exhibition of quilts, known as kawandi, by Siddis outside India.
