We write to request the help of your readers. Our project aims to ascertain the state of knowledge on Chinese Diasporas in Africa, focusing both on 'what is' and 'what will be'. We are keen to find out what knowledge exists around economic, social and political aspects of the Chinese diaspora and to determine what, if anything, key international agencies are doing to address this important new area of activity in Africa. 1. Do you consider the Chinese Diaspora in Africa to be a significant new development on the continent? If so, why?

2. What do you know about the economic activities of the Chinese Diaspora in terms of geographical areas of operation, scale and sectors?

3. What do you know about the social organisation of the Chinese Diaspora and their migration trajectories?

4. Do you have a sense of the reasons behind the migration of Chinese to Africa?

5. Do you know what role the Chinese state or African host states play in encouraging Chinese Diasporic activity?

6. Do you have a sense of how Africans perceive and treat Chinese migrants in their country?

7. Has your organisation made any formal or informal recognition of this issue? If so, what and how far has this gone?
