Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of volunteers and professionals standing up for human rights. Independent of any government, ideology, economic interest or religion, we have more than two million supporters in over 150 countries. AI is currently recruited to fill two campaigner positions in the Africa programme, based in Zimbabwe and Nigeria. The deadline for applications is 28 November 2007.

The following positions are within The International Secretariat - AI's global centre for research, campaigning, legal, lobbying and membership work. It's here where Researchers and Campaigners work hand-in-hand in highly motivated and dedicated teams to develop strategies in the fight for Human Rights.

CAMPAIGNERS (2 POSTS)

The role of Campaigners is to devise and implement a mixture of activities inspiring and mobilising people to take action by formulating clear, focussed and achievable medium to long term strategies. Working closely with other AI departments such as Media and Campaigns Programme, you will sometimes go on overseas missions for research and campaign activities.

A proven campaigner who's committed to human rights, you will combine a creative, yet pragmatic approach with excellent communication skills, particularly written and presentational. You should have a sound knowledge of the specific region, employing your sensitivity to their culture and customs when devising campaign strategies. A good working knowledge of the language will be an advantage.
