AFRODAD is a regional organisation based in Harare. Over the past two years, AFRODAD has embarked on an extensive institutional restructuring and expansion exercise. The organisation is now looking to recruit a dynamic, and committed individual to head the organisation and build its position as a key independent research, advocacy and information institution on the debt problem in Africa.
Qualifications and personal attributes
The candidate is required to:
§ Have a master’s degree in monetary economics, development studies, policy analysis, public finance or international finance;
§ Have 5 years’ experience post first degree of which four (x4) must be regional experience in at least two of Africa’s five regions while not necessarily being resident in the two regions;
§ Managerial experience as head of an institution or head of a regional programme;
§ A clear understanding of African civil society perspectives on debt and development issues and strong commitment to values and principles of social justice and equity;
§ Strong team leadership and people management skills; clarity of purpose and good organisational skills;
§ Communication and negotiation skills and ability to dialogue and advocate with policy and decision makers from the region and beyond.
§ Be fluent in English. Proficiency in either French or Portuguese will be an advantage.
