African Forum and Network on Debt and Development
DIRECTOR/COORDINATOR

AFRODAD is a regional organisation based in Harare. Its main goal is to undertake research and analysis and provide information on African Debt problems and contribute to finding sustainable solutions. Over the past two years, AFRODAD has embarked on an extensive institutional restructuring and expansion exercise. The organisation is now looking to recruit a dynamic, and committed individual to head the organisation and build its position as a key independent research, advocacy and information institution on the debt problem in Africa.

Qualifications and personal attributes
The candidate is required to:
§ Have a master’s degree in monetary economics, development studies, policy analysis, public finance or international finance;
§ Have 5 years’ experience post first degree of which four (x4) must be regional experience in at least two of Africa’s five regions while not necessarily being resident in the two regions;
§ Managerial experience as head of an institution or head of a regional programme;
§ A clear understanding of African civil society perspectives on debt and development issues and strong commitment to values and principles of social justice and equity;
§ Strong team leadership and people management skills; clarity of purpose and good organisational skills;
§ Communication and negotiation skills and ability to dialogue and advocate with policy and decision makers from the region and beyond.
§ Be fluent in English. Proficiency in either French or Portuguese will be an advantage.
